Boulder Electric Vehicle is gradually taking demonstrations of its vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology westward, spreading the gospel of an electric truck that can power itself while providing about 60 kilowatts worth of juice for a building or another outside source.

The company demonstrated its truck’s “bi-directional charging” capabilities in Michigan in June, followed up by a Colorado exhibition in July. And last month, Boulder Electric conducted a similar exercise in Los Angeles. That makes sense because the company received a $3 million grant from the California Energy Commission to build a factory in the City of Angels. Boulder Electric will be at it again at San Diego’s Plug-In 2013 Conference later this month.

Boulder Electric, which had been working with Coritech Services on the bi-directional charging technology, said in late June that it was the first-ever plug-in truckmaker to successfully pull off V2G recharging after displaying one of its flatbed tracks at Washington, DC’s Alternative Clean Transportation Expo. Meanwhile, Navigant Research (formerly Pike Research) said in April that almost 200,000 V2G-capable plug-in electric vehicles will be sold by the end of the decade. Boulder Electric is joined in the challenge to bring these vehicles to market by the likes of Nissan and Via Motors. Check out Boulder Electric Vehicle’s press release below.
