Ford owners collectively drive 100,000 EV miles a day.

It’s not the EV leader, but Ford is certainly contributing to the electric vehicle movement. In fact, the company says its drivers collectively account for about 100,000 purely electric driving miles a day and that number could soon increase substantially. The company has already deployed more than 1,700 charging stations at its North American dealerships and other facilities, and is gearing up to add about 200 more at 50 locations. The new stations will be installed at factories, offices and product-development facilities between now and the end of 2014.

Already, Ford says its electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids have traveled 30 million miles on electric power only, reducing CO2 emissions by about 2.64 million pounds in the process. Those numbers will continue to increase since Ford set all-time sales records for the Fusion Energy and C-Max Energi Plug-in Hybrids in August. Overall, Ford’s green-vehicle sales last month almost quadrupled from a year earlier to about 8,300 plug-ins and hybrids.

Better yet, Ford is footing the charging bill for its plug-in driving employees, at least for the first four hours of charging. The company estimates that the recharge will cost the company about 50 cents a pop while saving workers about $2 worth of gas. The electric miles information above comes from the MyFord Mobile app and Ford will collect vehicle recharging data from the stations, proving, as always, that Big Blue Oval Brother is indeed watching. Check out Ford’s press release below.
